The teachings on being awake have been transmitted from teacher to student since the Buddha first attained enlightenment. Printed books (and now the internet) have helped to spread the word about the possibility of awakening, but it seems this direct transmission from teacher to student, this tradition of lineage, is necessary for the teachings to be fully realized.

Join us for a rich exploration of this concept of lineage and an introduction to important lineage holders in our Shambhala and Buddhist traditions, the teachings they represent, and the path towards embodying these teachings in our own lives.

Long-time Shambhala and Buddhist practitioner, Susan Gaylord, will offer talks and lead discussions.

Readings will be taken from the following books, and more! (It is not necessary to purchase the books.)

  • Lineage & Devotion sourcebook
  • The Lotus Born: The Life Story of Padmasambhava
  • Sky Dancer: The Secret Life and Songs of the Land Yeshe Tsogyel
  • The Life of and Teachings of Naropa
  • The Life of Marpa the Translator
  • Milarepa: Lessons from the Life and Songs of Tibet’s Great Yogi
  • Epic of Gesar of Ling
