This workshop will provide essential information about how to prepare for death and tools for the dying process. It will help you to clarify your values and learn how to make your wishes known through a document called a “Spiritual Directive”. We will introduce meditations and contemplations that we can use as tools to prepare for our own death or assist others who are dying. The workshop will include activities and discussions that are relevant to Buddhists, as well as their family members, friends, health-care workers, chaplains and caregivers. Although this workshop is based in Buddhist beliefs, people of all religious traditions, as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path, are welcome.

Many thanks to the Philadelphia Shambhala Center Death and Dying Workgroup who graciously allowed us to adapt their Guide for North Carolina and to use their materials for this workshop.
